The Coaching Gig

Bay of Plenty Rugby is excited to announce its continued partnership with The Coaching Gig (formally IntaSport) for the 2025 rugby season, reaffirming its commitment to providing essential ongoing support for the dedicated volunteer coaches in the province.

The Coaching Gig has developed a user-friendly mobile app featuring coaching videos, session plans, and valuable resources. As part of this ongoing partnership, the app will remain available to all coaches in the province, free of charge.

Baywide Junior Rugby Manager Marcus Howie comments, “At Bay of Plenty Rugby, we recognise the critical role coaches play in creating positive experiences for young participants. We also understand that our coaches are volunteers and often time-poor. This specialised app continues to be an exciting initiative that not only supports coaches but helps shift coaching into a more modern, positive direction."

Marcus adds, “The app’s content reflects modern coaching methods that effectively engage young people in rugby, aligning with our core values of fun and player development. This alignment is a key reason we have chosen to renew our partnership with The Coaching Gig.”

Kyle McLean, founder of The Coaching Gig, shares, “We’re thrilled to continue our collaboration with Bay of Plenty Rugby to offer The Coaching Gig App to all coaches in the province. The demand for digital content that is easy to access and helps volunteer coaches is only increasing, and we’re proud that this app continues to meet those needs.”

McLean continues, “Organisations like Bay of Plenty Rugby are doing great work to attract and retain young people in the sport, and we recognise that coaches are at the heart of shaping a positive experience for players. Coaching today’s youth presents unique challenges. Young players want an engaging, imaginative experience, not repetitive drills. That’s why we’re so proud to offer video content that is proven to boost engagement, involvement, and learning. We look forward to continuing to support coaches in Bay of Plenty with this valuable resource!”
