Kapiti Coast United - 2026 Winter Season Message

Kia Ora KCU Whanau,

It’s time for another Winter Season at Kapiti Coast United and we can’t wait to get into it!!

We had a taster last weekend at our Community Cup event. Kapiti put on a great day for us and it was awesome to see so many of our community come out and support such a worthy cause.

I loved seeing so many of kids playing with smiles on their faces, and it was a great reminder of what it means to be part of a club. Thank you to everyone involved!!

At long last, we get to kick off tomorrow morning and good luck to all of our teams playing over the weekend. I know you will all represent KCU with pride and respect.

A couple of messages we’d like to share with everyone:

Positive Sidelines
Nothing beats hearing our whanau cheer on their players and encourage our teams in their games. Just a friendly reminder to keep it positive and avoid “telling” the players what to do. Hearing multiple instructions can be confusing (and sometimes distracting) for our players, so please just keep encouraging our players and let the coaches do the coaching😊

I encourage you all to check out this video: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1Xy5H8a2kB/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Respect barrier at Weka Park
Our Under 9s and regional U12/13s will be playing at Weka Park every week this season. We will be introducing a “respect barrier” this season and the outline of the pitches will be roped off. Players and coaches only are permitted beyond the rope.  Not only does this help us preserve the fields so everyone can enjoy playing on them all season, but it also gives more space for our coaches to coach, and our players to play.  We’d love it if as many of you can respect this as possible 😊

If no barrier is present, please stand at least 2M away from the touch line.

Thank You

A massive thank you to all of our volunteer coaches and managers. The kids wouldn’t be able to take to the field without you and we really appreciate the amount of your own time you are giving to your players. The club is working hard to support our coaches more than ever before, through our partnership with the Ricky Herbert Academy. Kale Herbert has already managed to spend time with most of our amazing coaches and is looking forward to working with them and our players more throughout the season.
