The Connetics Challenge Shield is contested in every competition league, round robin and crossover matches.
The shield will not be contested in playoffs and finals.
The challengers must win the game to win the shield. e.g If the game results in a draw, the shield stays with the holders.

Format
Two pools of 7 (snake seeded on previous year).
Play each team in the pool and a crossover game (7 weeks)
During pool play crossover games count for qualifying games and shield challenges. This means there are no BYE weeks.
At end of Round 7, the top four from each pool go to Premiership, bottom three in each pool go to Championship
2 x 35 minute halves with maximum 10 minute halftime.
3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss.

Term 2
- Wednesday 29th April through to Wednesday 1st July
No Games
- Wednesday 8th July or Wednesday 15th July
Term 3
- Wednesday 22nd July through to Wednesday 26th August
Premiership Semis/Championship Semis
- Wednesday 19th August
Premiership Finals/Championship Finals
- Wednesday 26th August
Winter Tournament Week
- Monday 31st August - Friday 4th September
Format
12 Team League, full round robin with playoffs and finals (11 playing weeks).
League phase consists of: 11 games (11 weeks). Each team plays every other team once.
Playoff phase consists of: 3 rounds where teams play across the Cup/Plate draw, culminating in finals.
3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss during the league phase.
2 x 30 minute halves with maximum 5 minute halftime. Injury time to be played as normal.
Teams are allowed unlimited substitutions from 5 named substitutes on the bench.
Playoff games go straight to penalties if a draw at full time.
Playing Dates 2023
Round 1 – Wednesday 6th May
No Games – Wednesday 8th and 15th July.
Playoffs (QF/SF/F) - Wednesday 5th August - Wednesday 19th August
Final (1st v 2nd) - Wednesday 26th August - Teams in Final won’t play on the 19th of August
