TE WIKI O TE REO MĀORI

Monday Sept 15 – Sept 22

We’re excited to see what our schools make happen during Te Wiki o te Reo Māori – a special time for us all to celebrate and uplift te reo Māori, an official language of Aotearoa. This annual event is a chance for ākonga, kaiako, and communities to show their support, strengthen their connection to te reo, and have fun embracing the language in everyday ways. Kia kaha te reo Māori!

FREE SEMINARS - UNDERSTANDING CONCUSSION

Understanding Concussion: what you should know about brain injury and recovery.

Sport Hawke’s Bay is partnering with Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union to host
Dr Josh McGeown at two community seminars aimed at increasing knowledge about concussion and its treatment.

Josh is Senior Research Fellow at Matai Medical Research Institute. He has been instrumental in advancing the understanding of mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) with his research aiming to improve prevention, assessment, and rehabilitation by linking brain state changes to clinical symptoms over time. Josh is currently working inside Gisborne Boys High School’s rugby programme using advanced MRI technology to analyse the effects of large impact concussion events and multiple small impact concussions.

Josh will be speaking to the key things you should know about concussion and providing insight into the latest research into brain injury treatment and recovery.

These free seminars are open to athletes of all ages, coaches, parents and others.

Please register to confirm your place.
