Southern Football is on the lookout for an enthusiastic and motivated Football Development Officer (FDO) to help drive the growth of football across the Central Otago region.
If you’re passionate about player development, supporting coaches, and helping clubs and communities thrive — this could be your next great opportunity!
As the Football Development Officer, you’ll be responsible for increasing both the quality and quantity of football opportunities in the region. You’ll lead initiatives that grow participation, improve coaching standards, and strengthen local football structures.
This position supports the delivery of key New Zealand Football and Southern Football strategies — including the Junior Football Framework and Whole of Football Plan (WOFP 2.0) — ensuring players, coaches, and clubs have the resources to succeed.

Regional Sports Trusts
NZF Coach Educators and fellow FDOs
Experience in football development, coaching, or community sport delivery
Strong understanding of NZF frameworks (WOFP, Junior Football Framework, etc.)
Proven ability to work with clubs, schools, and sports organisations
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Confident facilitator and community connector
Passion for growing football across all ages and backgrounds
Ability to work independently while collaborating within a wider team
