In order for schools to participate in the New Zealand Secondary Schools Canoe Slalom Nationals (NZSSC), all schools must be a member of Canoe Slalom New Zealand (CSNZ). A school membership covers all athletes representing that school at the NZSSC and ensures they are eligible to compete.

In addition, all school athletes participating in the event are required to complete a CSNZ Waiver Form prior to the competition.

CSNZ proudly hosts this annual national event, which rotates between the South Island and North Island each year to provide fair access and opportunities for schools across the country. The NZSSC is a cornerstone event in the CSNZ calendar and a fantastic introduction to the sport, offering students the chance to compete, connect with paddling communities, and develop their skills in a supportive environment.
