Inspire Net Men's and Mixed Competition 2024

Summer Social – 9-week Social Competition

Competition Details:

  • Game Night: Monday
  • Mixed & Mens competitions availiable-please choose below (NM reserve the right to combine these together if registrations are low)
  • Grading Dates: Jan 27th & Feb 3rd
  • Game Dates: Feb 10th, 17th & 24th, March 3rd, 10th & 17th
  • Finals: March 24th
  • Games Times: 5:45pm & 6.45pm
  • Game Length: 4 x 10-minute quarters (break times 2-2-2)
  • Registrations close:12pm Sunday 19th January unless capacity is reached prior
  • Umpires: teams must supply a confident umpire for the whole competition who knows ALL the rules.

Please note that the clock will start running as soon as the hooter goes, so teams need to be ready to take the court. Teams that are late will lose playing time.

NM reserves the right-dependant on registration numbers (and with communication to teams involved) to combine the mixed & Mens grades. We would love to offer both however this is dependent on registrations.

There will be no injury time allowed, however, the game can be stopped to safely remove an injured player is required.

Fees are due in FULL before the competition starts. ALL GRADES are to supply your own umpire for the entire competition. Please make sure your umpire is confident and is up-to-date on all the rules.

  • Rolling Subs the player on court must go off court before handing their bib to the new player going on court.


The "Need to Know's"

  • A maximum of 12 players maybe registered. If you wish to register more people you will need to email Donna-if players are being replaced-some will need to be removed from the team registration before more can be added. 
  • Mixed Grade-The maximum number of males on the court at one time is three
  • Mens Grade-All players must be male.
  • Mens Grade-Teams DO NOT have to be registered through schools. Social teams can be made-all Yr 7&8 and Yr9-13 teams will need an adult with them at all times. 
  • Only 1 male per team in each third i.e., one male as GS/GA, one male as WD/C/WA, and one male as GD/GK
  • Players can be registered by 5pm on the night by emailing Donna on donna@netballmanawatu.org.nz
  • Finals - 5 players must have played a minimum of 2 round games to be eligible to play the finals

Grades for Mixed Competition

  • Legends ~ ''Competitively"' Social
  • Apprentices ~ "'Social"' Grade
  • Rookies ~ "Very Social" Grade (this grade is aimed at teams with alot of beginner netballers or those who havent played for 10+ yrs)
  • Please note: Grades may have to merge together is entry if low for some grades-however we will try our best to sort this during grading.


Grades for the Mens Competition

  • Yr 7&8
  • Yr 9-13
  • Adults
  • Both the Yr7&8 and Yr9-13 teams can be social. These teams DO NOT need to register through a school. Players can be from a mixture of schools. These teams must have a reliable adult with them at all times during game nights AND for all communication. 


Netball Manawatu will provide:  

  • Registration Desk.
  • Support for umpires during the competition

Teams need to provide:

  • A confident knowledgable umpire
  • Game Ball
  • Bibs (NM MAY be able to help some teams with these)
  • A Scorer
  • Appropriate footwear.
  • No jewellery is to be worn.-no taped jewellery either
  • Nails are to be short and smooth.
  • Hats can be worn.


Draws & points tables:

The competition format will be 2 weeks of grading, 6 weeks of round-robin play, 1-week finals, please note that this is subject to change based on a number of teams entered.

  • Points will be allocated in the following manner:

Win = 4                                 Draw = 2                                               

Team Captain’s Duties

  • To report to the registration desk prior to each game.
  • To ensure the team's members are advised of their game times.
  • To pass on all information from Netball Manawatū to team members.
  • To communicate with Netball Manawatū any new players registering in the team.

Netball Manawatū will do their best to contact all teams if defaults happen. Please ensure that a main contact cell number is given so that we are able to ring/txt if needed.


Netball Manawatū reserve the right to check all players are registered players, and if it is found that players are NOT registered they will be asked to come off the court AND the game will be a default to that team.

For 2025 we have an addition to our Summer Social Netball Competition. We have included a males grade which  gives males an oppurtunity to continue playing netball for as long as they like creating diversity across all playing ages.

Ages from Yr 7 - Adult. Get a whanau team together and come along and join in the fun. The Mens and Mixed competition is played at Vautier Park, Puriri Terrace, Palmerston North on Monday evenings beginning January 27th 2025.
