UPDATING THE SUBURBS RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB CONSTITUTION

HAVE YOUR SAY

DRAFTING A NEW CONSTITUTION

As you may know, all clubs in New Zealand must update and re-register their constitutions under the new Incorporated Societies Act 2022 by April 6, 2026.

This law is designed to modernise how community organisations like ours are governed — ensuring greater transparency, accountability, and alignment with current good-governance practice.

To meet these requirements, Suburbs Rugby Football Club will be drafting a new Constitution that reflects both the new legislation and our club’s long-standing values, culture, and structure. The draft document is now in near-final form and has been reviewed in consultation with Auckland Rugby Union and legal advisors.

WHY THIS MATTERS

Updating our Constitution ensures Suburbs Rugby Football Club:

Remains a registered and compliant incorporated society.

Reflects modern governance standards while preserving our traditions.

Clearly defines membership, voting, and committee structures.

Strengthens financial and operational transparency.

Protects our heritage and community purpose for the next generation.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

We’re now inviting all Suburbs members and Club community to review the draft Constitution and share any feedback or questions.
The documents will be available via the links on our website asap
