Basketball 2026

This year Basketball HB has asked that athletes play for their school first and if we are unable to get coaches for our teams then they play for a club. As the administrator for Basketball, I will coordinate all the information for our athletes but we don't have the coaching expertise within our staff to coach our teams. That means we are relying on whanau to coach and manage our teams for the Term 1/2 competition.

This year as a way to show our appreciation, our school will credit your school account the Basketball fee for your child if you opt to coach a team for the 13 week season. If you think that you can Coach/Manage a TIS team this season, please tick the box on the registration form and I will be in touch via email. Thanks in advance.

GAMES and COMPETITION

Venue: Centennial Hall

Day: Thursdays

Times: Vary depending on the draw - in the past games are from 5.30pm onwards.

Dates: Competition starts on Thursday 19th February

There will be 3 weeks of grading games, 8 weeks of competition rounds and then semi finals and finals.

Grades: Basketball HB has 3 grades this year, Girls grade, Mixed grade & Boys grade.

Girls - If you wish to play in an all girls team please register directly with Bay Falcons as we have a partnership with Tiffany to promote girls in Basketball. Email Tiffany: tiffanymoore@outlook.co.nz

Girls - If you wish to play in a mixed team for TIS, please complete the online registration.

CODE OF CONDUCT

Players and parents of all TIS sports will be asked to agree to our 2026 sports code of conduct. Please read and discuss with your child and your extended family. As proud parents and New Zealanders, we love our sports and are keen for our students to do the best they can. Click here to view the Code of Conduct.

FEES

Basketball fees for the term 1/2 competition is $120 per player. This must be paid when you register your child online. There is also an additional $5.00 Basketball NZ levy that each individual has to play when you complete the online registration. (I will send you a link once teams are sorted and registered)

GEAR

All players will be issued with a school sports singlet for basketball. Listen for the intercom message to come and collect a top.

Students will require a mouth guard, black PE shorts, and sneakers. MOUTHGUARDS ARE COMPULSORY! No mouthguard = no play.
