We’re already planning for next year, when we return to the Sudima Auckland Airport, 24–26 July 2026. The Awards Dinner theme will be Dynamic Duos and Iconic Crews — so get your costumes ready!
The 2025 NZPCA National Conference and AGM was nothing short of amazing, with record numbers, inspiring speakers, and unforgettable moments that will be remembered for years to come.
We were thrilled to sell out both the Friday National Forum and the Awards Dinner, a true testament to the enthusiasm and dedication of our Pony Club whānau.
The weekend marked the debut of our first Area Conference Quiz, masterfully run by the NZPCA Quiz Team under the leadership of National Quiz Coordinator Kristine Jones. The competition was fierce, with Canterbury taking out the win and Waitematā Rodney, for the third year running, claiming Best Dressed at the Awards Dinner.
We were proud to relaunch Riders Without Horses into Introduction to Equine Skills, complete with an outstanding club resource and rider workbook. Alongside this, we introduced the Achievement Badge Workbook—a practical and user-friendly tool that we believe should be included in every rally plan.
One of the most powerful moments of the weekend came from our guest speaker, Elizabeth Charleston, who courageously shared her journey of living with a traumatic brain injury. Elizabeth was joined by her sister, Jennifer Hislop, together, were once legendary competitors in Waikato Pony Clubs. Their presence brought both inspiration and a strong sense of connection back to our grassroots.
The conference was rich with grassroots-focused sessions, designed to provide practical learning and support for clubs and branches. For those who couldn’t attend every workshop, we’re delighted to confirm that all presentation slides will soon be available online.
On Sunday, the AGM welcomed an outstanding 80% turnout from Clubs and Areas — quite possibly a record in NZPCA history. Together, our members voted in favour (90.1%) for a milestone change: the adoption of a nationwide three-layer structure, effective 1 April 2026, in alignment with our updated Constitution under the new Incorporated Societies Act 2023.
We were also honoured to induct three new Life Members:
Marj Steiner
Dudley Brown
David Gibbons
Their lifelong service and dedication to Pony Club have left an indelible mark on our community.
From the fantastic venue and excellent food to the energy in the room and the invaluable networking opportunities, the weekend reminded us why Pony Club is truly Where it Begins.

Thank you to everyone who made this year’s event such a remarkable success. Together, we are shaping the future of NZPCA.
