Registration Information

Important Information Before Registering

Before completing any sports registration form, please read the following key information to ensure a smooth and successful sporting experience.

Commitment Expectations

  • Team viability - All team sports depend on meeting minimum player numbers and securing essential staffing such as coaches, managers, umpires, and duty teams. Without parent volunteers, some teams may not be able to enter competitions. Where possible, we will source professional coaches.

  • Choosing your sport(s) - Please check that training and game schedules do not clash with other sports or extra-curricular commitments (e.g. Dance, Drama).

Teams vs Clubs

Teams

  • Compete in weekly inter-school competitions at various venues
  • Trials may be required for sports with high interest
  • Typically involve 2–3 commitments per week (games and training)

Clubs

  • Typically held onsite at school
  • Focus on skills development and social participation
  • Usually involve one session per week
  • Some clubs may offer optional competitions or tournaments

Winter Sport (Terms 2–3)

ACG Tauranga has a unique three-week term break between Terms 2 and 3. Most external competitions continue during one week of this break, and students must be available to play.

If you are planning a holiday:

  • Please inform the team manager/coach as early as possible
  • Students are expected to help find a suitable replacement player to avoid defaulting

Summer Sport (Term 4)

Some competitions extend beyond the end of the ACG school year. Players must be prepared to complete the full season.

For students with Term 4 exams:

  • All registered players must still commit to every game
  • Planning ahead is essential — training and games must be factored into study and family schedules

Please note:  We cannot default games due to holidays or exam study.  Defaults impact coaches, managers, teammates, opposition teams, and competition organisers.

Sports Fees

Fees listed on each sporting code page may include:

  • Coaching and umpiring
  • Competition entry
  • Venue hire
  • Equipment costs
  • Uniform loan, maintenance, or purchase

Additional information:

  • Fees are charged to your school account once a student is named/placed in a team.
  • If a student withdraws after placement, full fees still apply, as costs are committed once teams are submitted.
  • Fees may be adjusted based on final player numbers, equipment needs, or coaching costs — any changes will be communicated beforehand.
  • Teams have a one-off seasonal fee.
  • Clubs have termly fees. Students may attend one free trial session (e.g. Archery) before fees are applied.
  • Competitions/tournaments may have additional costs.

Uniforms

  • Uniform requirements for each sport are listed on its code page.
  • All uniforms must be returned promptly at the end of the season.
  • Replacement or late-return charges may be applied to school accounts.

Sports Handbook

We encourage all students, parents, coaches, and managers to read the Sports Handbook, which outlines the key guidelines, processes, and policies that ensure sport at ACG Tauranga is well-organised, enjoyable, and successful for everyone involved.

Code of Behaviour

Sport at ACG Tauranga should be a positive and respectful experience for all - students, supporters, officials, and the wider sporting community.

Our expectations are set out clearly in the Code of Behaviour, included within the Sports Handbook.

Before the season begins, all Coaches, Managers, and Students are required to sign a Code of Behaviour Contract. A link to these contracts is available on this page.
