Volleyball – Term 1

Our Volleyball teams compete in weekly competitions administered by Tauranga Volleyball.

Senior Competitive (Years 11–13 | Girls & Boys)

  • Grade: Competitive
  • Duty Requirements:  All teams are rostered for duty, including providing a 1st Referee and Scorer.  Failure to complete rostered duty will result in a bye the following week.
  • League Day: Thursdays
  • Game Times: Between 5:00pm – 9:30pm (40-minute games)
  • Venues: (Teams may be scheduled at either venue.) 
    • Haumaru Sports Center, Cameron Road.
    • Mercury Arena, Baypark. 
  • Training:
    • All teams: Monday after school (3:30–5:00pm)
    • Senior A Girls: Additional Wednesday after school (3:30-5:00pm)

Junior Social (Years 9–10 | Girls / Boys / Mixed)

  • Grade: Social
  • Referees: Provided
  • League Day: Wednesdays
  • Game Times: Between 4:15pm – 9:00pm (40-minute games)
  • Venue: QEYC Stadium, 11th Avenue, Tauranga
  • Training: Thursday Lunchtime starting 19 Feb

Intermediate (Years 7–8 | Girls / Boys / Mixed – A & B Grades)

  • League Day: Fridays
  • Game Times: Between 4:15pm – 8:30pm (40-minute games)
  • Venue: Mercury Baypark
  • Training:
    • Lunchtime session(s) during Term 1 - Mondays
    • Please note: Training times will change in Term 4 to after school

Primary Kiwi Volley (Years 3–6)

  • Years 3–4: Modified rules, 4-a-side
  • Years 5–6: Social and Competitive, 4-a-side
  • League Day: Fridays
  • Game Times: Between 4:15pm – 7:15pm
  • Venue: Mercury Baypark
  • Training: Tuesdy lunchtime

Senior (Year 11–13 | Girls and Boys)

Competitive & Social

No senior teams were entered in Term 4 due to senior students being on study leave.

Junior A (Year 09–10 | Girls and Boys)

  • League day/dates:  Tuesdays, 14 October – 9 December
  • Game times:  Between 4:10pm – 9:30pm (40-minute games)
  • Location:  Haumaru Sports Centre, Cameron Road
  • Training:  Mondays, 3:30–5:00pm (Girls and Boys)

Junior B (Year 09–10 | Girls and Boys)

  • League day/dates:  Wednesdays, 22 October – 10 December
  • Game times:  Between 4:00pm – 8:30pm (40-minute games)
  • Location:  QEYC Stadium
  • Training:  Girls – Thursdays at lunchtime

Intermediate (Year 07–08 | Girls / Boys / Mixed – A and B Grade)

Pre-season and Trial Dates:

Based on registration numbers, trials will be required for the Senior A and Junior A teams. 

Pre-season and Trials dates are as follows:

Senior (Year 11-13)

Pre-season: Thursday 5 February - Lunchtime

Junior (Year 9-10)

Uniform:

  • An ACG sports uniform will be provided
  • If students would like to wear spandex gym shorts, only the ACG gym shorts may be worn.  These can be purchased from NZ Uniforms and must be an appropriate size/coverage.
  • Year 7-13 students may also wear the black ACG PE shorts.

Tournaments:

If you intend to play/trial for Competitive Senior A (Term 1) and Junior A (Term 4) teams, it is a requirement that you commit to the below tournament dates and associated costs.  

Term 1 - BOPSS Senior Champs (Years 11-13) 

Held over six days on the following dates.  

  • Day 1 and 2:  TBC (School venues)
  • Day 3 and 4:  Friday 27 and Saturday 28 February (QEYC/Mercury)
  • Day 5, 6 and Finals Day:  Friday 13, Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 March (QEYC/Mercury)

Tournament Fee: TBC once entry costs and team numbers are known. 

Term 4 - BOPSS Junior Champs (Years 09-10) 

Held over six days on the following dates.  

  • Day 1 and 2:  Friday 16 and Saturday 17 October (Mercury/Haumaru)
  • Day 3 and 4:  Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November (Mercury/Hamaru)
  • Day 5 & Finals Day:  Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 November (Unison Arena, Rotorua)

Tournament Fee:  TBC once entry costs and team numbers are known.
