Archery Club
Archery is a rewarding year-round sport that combines focus, precision, and self-discipline. Students learn to develop both physical and mental strength while building confidence through consistent skill progression.
No prior experience is required — all equipment is provided, though students are welcome to bring or purchase their own gear.
Opportunities
Students can participate in the Archery New Zealand School Shoot Programme, which can be completed during regular school training sessions. This programme forms part of the national Youth Archery circuit, giving young archers across New Zealand the opportunity to compete each month. Coaches will provide further details, and there is a small additional cost for entry.
Eligibility
- Open to Years 7–13 students.
- Year 5–6 students may participate following a coach assessment to ensure readiness.
- Spaces are limited to 10 students per session, based on coaching, equipment, and safety considerations.
Coaching Schedule
- Days/Times: Tuesday or Thursday, 3:30–5:00pm (starting Week 1 of term).
- Families will be notified if we are unable to accommodate their preferred day.
Coaches
Our experienced external coaches from Tauranga Archers Club,

Location
- Archery targets are located on the far side of the ACG Tauranga field.
- Students should meet their coach on the field side of the gym by the changing rooms / PE shed door.
What to Wear
Students should wear their ACG PE uniform. During cooler months, we recommend layering with a base layer and bringing a rain jacket and beanie for warmth.
Cancellations and Indoor Sessions
- Training will only be cancelled in the event of heavy rain or unsafe ground conditions.
- In light drizzle or intermittent rain, sessions will continue, with some activities run under cover.
- When weather prevents outdoor training, a classroom-based session will be held. Students should meet inside the gymnasium before being escorted to the classroom.
- If cancellation is required, families will be notified by midday via email.
Missed Sessions / Short Days
- Missed sessions may be made up within the same week in another group, subject to coach approval and space availability.
- If school finishes early (e.g., Parent Interviews), sessions will be moved forward if coaches are available. Students cannot remain unsupervised at school between early finish and the session start.
